De Bremstruik’ (the broom), located in the cloister of the Redemptorists, offers training courses for adults, a liturgical centre, a crisis and reception centre and a listening ear.

It is a spot where people can find refuge, where they can cry out their suffering and rediscover a little peace. This reminds us of the story of Elijah, who took shelter under a broom.

The Catholic magazine ‘Tertio’ wrote:”the media put the accent above all on the decrease in the number of practising believers, but they do not see all the positive and new projects, inspired by the Christian spirit, which are hatching out and flourishing in Flanders. One of these projects is ‘De Bremstruik’ in Roeselare”.

The 1874 church is consecrated to Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours (Our Lady of Good Help). It contains among other things mural paintings by Arnold Brijs (1950).
