This is the abbey church of the Trappist monks of Chimay, who have been there since 1850,and is part of a complex comprising guest quarters, living accommodation for the monks and the well-known brewery.
The church has had many changes and restorations over the years. Today it has a fine presence based on absolute moderation. The interior invites one to reflection and prayer. It has opted for simplicity with few adornments; very few statues; completely white columns and walls; oak stalls for the monks, who gather to pray 7 or 8 times a day, facing the choir dominated by a Christ on a very simple cross. Beautiful resonance of religious song. Visitors may join the service.
